1. Storytelling and Discussion

Each LWL storytelling class focuses on a theme. From Dinosaurs & Dragons to Food & Nutrition to Plants & Mother Nature, we rotate through 28 themes throughout the year to help students expand their imagination and increase their knowledge of the world around them.

Take the guesswork out of which books to read because LWL has you covered. As of 2023, we have over 600 picture books in our library and we divide these books into various reading levels. From incorporating childhood classics to best-selling new releases, we are constantly growing our library.

Each time we read a picture book, we discuss the story throughout, find ways to connect to each story, and reflect on what we learned in the end.

Reading Examples:(Beginner Level to Upper Advanced Level)

In a relaxing environment, students develop their creativity during craft time. We encourage self-expression and experimentation. Working with different materials, students develop fine motor skills.

Art nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving skills, fuelling creativity and innovation.

Each day of camp we focus on a particular learning theme and depending on each student’s level, we build proficient writing skills.

Beginner students review letters of the alphabet and their associated sounds, we learn how to write key words from our learning themes. Intermediate students take these key words and begin forming sentences through engaging worksheets. Advanced students translate their thoughts into carefully written paragraphs. Writing activities differ and vary each day!

Upper Advanced students complete worksheets associated with their novels. Our writing activities include writing summaries, analysing quotes, conducting character studies, filling plot diagrams, answering comprehensions, creating poems, and more! Each class has unique assignments to practice a variety of writing styles.

Writing Examples:(Beginner Level to Upper Advanced Level)

We begin every class by practicing daily conversation dialogues. We ask open-ended questions to exercise students' thinking process, develop their speech and language skills, and build confidence.

Students then practice speaking with the appropriate volume, speed, body language and audience engagement. This program aims to help students express thoughts with clarity while also teaching various poems and speeches to broaden their horizons.
