EARLY STORYTELLING
(Ages 3-7.5)

Cultivate a love for books. For young readers, picture books are essential for building vocabulary skills and sentence structure.

During regular semesters, teachers focus on each reading topic for three weeks. This theme-based learning aids students to build their knowledge on reading topics such as Weather & Seasons, Food & Nutrition, Dinosaurs & Dragons, and much more!

Native English speaking teachers aid students with their pronunciation and articulation. In groups of 3-4, students share their ideas with peers while practicing taking turns, raising their hands, and being active listeners. In-person sessions include a craft and worksheet that connects with the books of the day.

Know all 26 alphabet letters and sounds, begin reading picture books independently, prepare to read chapter books! Whatever your goals are, we will help you reach them.

Our course has three different levels and we take a systematic approach to phonics to help students become fluent readers. We also focus on spelling! Students practice writing the alphabet and spelling words in the correct sequence and size.

We aim to make phonics more dynamic and fun to learn! We complete a hands-on project each class to help students retain their lesson in a joyful way. We also incorporate books into the lesson as our goal is to learn how to read independently and improve reading fluency.

PHONICS & SPELLING
(Ages 4-7.5)

CONFIDENT COMMUNICATION & PUBLIC SPEAKING
(Ages 4-13)

Teachers lead various worksheets and exercises to teach specific vocabulary and guide students to speak in full sentences with correct grammar. We ask open-ended questions to exercise students' thinking process, develop their speech and language skills, and build confidence.

Depending on student age, we prepare poems, debate topics, and speeches for students to present. Students practice speaking with the appropriate volume, speed, body language and audience engagement.

Knowing your audience is key, so students read a story and complete a hands-on project to familiarize themselves with their poem or speech of the day. This program aims to help students express thoughts with clarity while also teaching various poems and speeches to broaden their horizons.

NOVEL STUDY & CREATIVE WRITING (Grades 1-7)

From the Magic Tree House series to the Roald Dahl collection to the world of Harry Potter to the George Orwell classics, we dive into a variety of literature. From students who are just transitioning into chapter books to students who are avid bookworms, we have the perfect story for you.

In small classes of 3-4, students expressively read aloud, engage in class discussions, and complete various writing exercises related to their novels.

Guided reading helps students slow down, gain vocabulary, and improve attention to detail. Each class, the writing assignment is unique. Students complete book summaries, character studies, quote analyses and more! We develop fundamental skills necessary for proficient reading and writing.

Parents asked and we delivered! We condensed our carefully curated after-school programs into half-day programs for our younger students.

See this as an LWL taster menu to help students prep for kindergarten! In this half-day session, we incorporate storytelling, crafts, phonics, social emotional learning, numeracy, confident communication, and performances! Gain the skills to get a positive start for school!

Our goal is to provide an enrichment program with small class sizes and a talented teaching team of native English speakers. We believe in helping your child get ahead, while always maintaining a joyful learning environment and a positive association towards learning.

KINDERGARTEN PREP (Ages 3-5)

Why learn French? French is widely spoken on all five continents. The official languages of Canada are English and French; most schools offer French as a second language. Young learners will also discover French and English complement each other. Learning French will boost your brain and further your understanding of English!

In our French program, students read French books and learn French songs. Students then learn their keywords of the day and complete various structured worksheets based on their French level. We finish the class with a hands-on project, utilizing the new French they've learned.

We implement whole language learning, students are not taught to memorize individual vocabulary words. Through our various activities, students make meaning by taking risks, predicting, and self-correcting.

EARLY FRENCH
(Ages 4-13)

MATH FUNDAMENTALS
(Ages 4-11)

A common way that learning math is approached is through a repetition of math drills on paper. However, at LWL, we recognize that successful progression in the field of mathematics requires true understanding of the material!

Oftentimes, we skim over the foundations of math in order to move on to the next subject, but our program is designed for student to take their time in discovering how everything in math is connected and all around us!

Math is not limited to problem-solving on paper. It is so much more than that! We want to make sure that our students recognize this, so we designed a hands-on program that will be supplemented by real-life examples, tangible objects, stories, or crafty activities!

FUNDAMENTALS OF ART WITH LITERARY ANALYSIS (Ages 2.5-13)

Welcome to LWL’s "Fundamentals of Art with Literary Analysis"! Art holds so many benefits beyond the canvas: it serves as a therapeutic outlet, fostering stress relief, healing, and self-discovery. In education, it nurtures critical thinking and problem-solving skills, fuelling creativity and innovation.

Throughout this course, we'll delve into core art principles, including color theory, drawing techniques, and proportion, while infusing English poetry and writing to inspire daily artwork. Together, we'll discover diverse ways to express unique perspectives, fostering creativity, problem-solving, and personal growth beyond the canvas.

HUMAN ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY
(Grades 3-7)

We are part of biology, and studying how the human body functions is a way to understand the world around us. Students will also learn how to stay healthy and how diseases and injuries can be treated.

In each class, students are taught to illustrate and label anatomical diagrams. Each class focuses on a set of keywords and biological terms. Throughout the semester, students taking classes in person will compile together a standing poster board, connecting the different learning units and body systems.

Concepts taught in university and high school are adapted to be digestible and engrossing for students in elementary school. Students learn about the different organs and biological systems through text, video, sound, graphics and animation.
